My `75 model needs a new exhaust system from the cat back. One muffler shop
recommended their standard turbo-mufflers that carry 1 year wty. Another
shop recommended their flowmaster mufflers w/ 2 yr. wty. They let me hear
an old pickup with the flowmasters just installed w/ a short tail pipe~8".
Much too loud for the vette if it would sound anything like the pickup. I
don`t want to buy cheap mufflers and be back at a shop again in 2 years.
Any ideas/previous experience appreciated. I`m trying to stay away from the
big chain shops, their prices are 50% higher for same work.

have flowmasters on my 77. kind of loud with the tops on, but sound very
nice imho. good mufflers. HOWEVER, they resonate like a bitch at about 1500.
doesnt bother me, your mileage may vary. have the turbos on my 85. quieter,
no resonance. good mufflers also. if noise bothers ya, go with the turbos.
if yo dont have any smog nazis where you live , lose the cat and go true
duals fromt the manifold. car runs cooler, a little better throttle
response. on mine i noticed a decrease in cabin heat immediately. both good
products, depends on your taste. good luck. regards, jd
by the way. have a friend who owns a muffler shop. only differenc between a
1 year muffler and a lifetime muffler is the price. if you buy the lifetime
muffler, costs twice the price for the same part. in case it blows out and
you have to replace it, you already got your money up front. true story.

Thanks for the tip. I think I`ll go with the "flowmasters" because of the
noise. I don`t think I`ll go with a lifetime muffler for twice the price
since they are made the same. Keep my money in the bank until I need to
replace them again. The dual system you mentioned worked great for years
until smog control folks made me splice in a cat. I face yearly smog
inspections; even though the engine passed without the cat for years it is
now required since it was orig. equip.
